$100,000 Grant Funds for Columbia County

Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund provides payments to counties with federal lands

I helped secure $100,000 in local assistance funds from the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund, which provides payments to counties with federal lands. The program is supported by the American Rescue Plan, championed by our congressional delegation (Delgado, Gillibrand, Schumer) and signed by President Biden.

The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is an important part of our history and a resource for county residents. And these new grant funds are an extra benefit since they balance any potential revenue lost for having federal lands. The $100,000 goes into the general fund and offsets property taxes.
